Service Coordination for Adults with Developmental Disabilities
1. What is an Individualized Plan?
An individualized plan contains the goals and service needs of Denver Options customers.
2. How often does the individualized planning meeting occur?
Customers establish new goals in the planning process at least once a year.
3. Who is a customer’s main contact at Denver Options?
Every customer has a Service Coordinator who helps people plan services and helps people connect to services and community resources.
4. Who do customers contact in case of emergency
Customers call their Service Coordinator and if he or she is not available, customers will talk with an on-call service coordinator, or a supervisor for help.
5. What can customers do if they have questions or concerns about the services?
Their designated Service Coordinator is the best person to contact. The Service Coordinator can call a meeting to discuss problems and concerns and put new strategies into action.
6. When do customers talk with their Service Coordinator?
Service Coordinators return phone calls within 24 hours. They can also set meetings at home, day program sites or places of work, at times convenient for customers.
7. How is my information kept confidential?
Denver Options maintains strict confidentiality of all customer records. Please see our Privacy Policy.
8. What do I do if I have questions about my health, social security or food stamp benefits?
Service Coordinators can contact outside agencies for customers to determine answers to customer questions.
9. Do you have a waiting list?

10. What is Temporary Supervision?
Many people call temporary supervision respite. Caregivers call on qualified people to come and stay with their family member with a disability so they can take a break, run errands or spend time with other family members.
Intake Services FAQ
1. What are Intake Services?
When someone decides to apply for Denver Option’s services the Intake Department meets with the person and their family to gather information needed to assess if the person has a developmental disability.
2. Who qualifies for services?
Denver Options provides services to people with developmental disabilities. A developmental disability, or intellectual disability, involves significant mental retardation or related conditions which include cerebral palsy, epilepsy, autism, and more. The condition has to present itself before the age of 22 to be defined as a developmental disability. (See Colorado Code of Regulations CCR503-1 at Rule 16.120)

5. Someone told me that there is a waiting list for services, is that true?
Due to lack of funding, there is a waiting list for some services. Once you complete an intake, you can learn whether or not the services you are applying for involve a waiting list.
Waiting List Services
Denver Options provides some help while people wait for services. Due to lack of funding, many people who have been found eligible for Denver Options’ services are waiting to receive help. Currently this most affects adults with developmental disabilities.
1. How do I know if I am on a waiting list?
You will be notified if you are placed on a waiting list. There are different waiting lists for different programs. Parents can request that children 14 and older, be placed on adult services waiting lists.
2. Can I get any help while I’m waiting for services?
We help you link to community services while you are waiting for Denver Options’ services.
3. If I am on the waiting list and my circumstances change, who can I call?
If you are eligible for Denver Options’ services but waiting for those services and your circumstances change, you can call your waiting list service coordinator and explain your change of circumstance.
4. What should I do if I move while I am on the waiting list?
It is important that we have a way to contact you while you are waiting for services. Please keep us informed about any changes in your address or phone number. Or, if you move to another county in Colorado.
